Summary:
The Neil Best Newsroom Fellowship is a six-month program designed to involve talented students from Front Range Colorado universities and community colleges. This fellowship requires a commitment of 20 hours per week, offers an immersive experience in the dynamic field of public media journalism, guided by seasoned professionals at KUNC.

Knowledge
The employee is required to frequently stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, reach, and lift with arms, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is required to frequently lift up to 30 pounds without assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision; distance vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment
The office is based in Greeley, but this is a remote position required to travel to other locations for interviews, station events and donor meetings.

Summary:

Essential Functions:
- Writing, editing, and producing content for both on-air and KUNC.org.
- Assisting reporters and producers in coverage.
- Editing audio or video using digital editing software.
- Creating stories/posts on social media.
- Managing listener/reader engagement through social, email, and voicemail.
- Taking photos/videos.
Knowledge
- Basic understanding of reporting skills and data journalism.
- In-depth knowledge and experience reporting on Hispanic/Latino and/or Native American cultures, communities, and constituencies preferred.
- Experience using audio or video production/editing equipment preferred.
- Strong writing, research, and communication skills.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing utilizing proper grammar.
- Perform work professionally, with ethics and integrity, and maintain confidentiality when required.
- Proficiency in a second language, such as Spanish, preferred.
- Proven ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work with little supervision and to exercise good independent judgment.
- Self-motivation, resourcefulness, curiosity, creativity, and accuracy
- Think creatively about digital content.
- Handle multiple priorities and simultaneous demands, organizing and completing tasks according to their importance.
- Commit to supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.
- Consistently work well with others, demonstrating at all times respect for the diverse constituencies at KUNC and within the public broadcasting system.
- Currently enrolled in a Colorado university or community college.
- Passion for telling unique stories and amplifying community voices.
- Familiarity with content-management systems preferred.
